Areas of Operation

Aspect Abundant Shale LP's growth in reserves and production acreage in the United States is primarily accomplished through a combination of producing property acquisitions, and exploratory and development drilling. Our near-term goal is to strengthen our production base by focusing drilling activity on unconventional resource plays (shale gas and tight sand gas) in operating areas known to have large volumes of proven long-lived reserves. Aspect Abundant Shale LP is acquiring acreage in several plays in North America, some of which is within the following key areas:

  • Barnett Shale - North TX
  • Fayetteville Shale - AK
  • Woodford Shale - OK
  • Marcellus Shale - PA
  • Utica Shale - NY

Unconventional Resource Plays

Unconventional shale gas and tight sand resource plays have become a key exploration target for the petroleum industry and investors. Although many rock attributes are important in determining what defines commercially productive shale and tight sands, the characteristics of its gas generative capacity, thermal maturity, and ease of fracture, is of prime importance in obtaining high gas flow rates. The exploration and production areas that Aspect Abundant Shale LP is targeting are known to have enormous reserves of gas. These resource plays extend over vast areas and have the potential to provide long-term, low-risk, and highly profitable production growth.

Individual Plays

Ft. Worth Basin/Barnett Shale

This fractured shale trend is one of the most active drilling plays in the United States. Thousands of wells have been drilled in this unconventional gas reservoir during the past five years. Aspect Abundant Shale LP has significant acreage in key areas of the basin and is aggressively looking to expand their position. With an experienced team of oil and gas professionals, Aspect Abundant Shale LP is aggressively pursuing acreage acquisition and production in the Barnett. Some experts predict that the Barnett Shale will be the largest onshore natural gas field in the United States. The Barnett Shale is of Mississippian age, and the overall thickness of the productive interval can range from 100 to 750 feet thick at an average depth of 6,500 to 8,500 feet. The formation is estimated to stretch from the city of Fort Worth west, covering 5,000 square miles (13,000 square km) and at least 17 counties.

Primary focus on:

Barnett Shale - North TX
Fayetteville Shale - AK
Woodford Shale - OK
Marcellus Shale - PA
Utica Shale - NY
